FATSHION FACEOFF: VINTAGE HANDBAG

Hey y'all! It's Wednesday and so that means it's time for the Fatshion Faceoff! (If you're new to the blog, you can find out more about the FF here.) This week our challenge item was chosen by yours truly and I picked... a vintage or thrifted handbag! I have a few different ones to choose from, but decided on one of my favorites, my vintage black Coach bag that I scored off of eBay a year or so ago. It's a classic shape and the perfect size to carry essentials, plus the strap is long enough to be worn as a crossbody. Love it!

sunnies: RayBan via Zappos
earrings: Marc by Marc Jacobs via Zappos
jacket: Calvin Klein via Macy's
shirt: H&M
bag: vintage Coach via eBay
rings: ASOS & Target(?)
jeans: Torrid
kicks: Converse via DSW

Just a simple outfit today, nothing too groundbreaking about a tee and jeans, but whatevs. I was in Arizona last week for several days attending the Yuma Symposium, and now that I've come home, of course I'm behind in schoolwork. I love you guys and I love wearing more interesting outfits, but I've gotta take care of business and get caught up. Things should be back to normal here in the next couple days. I've missed you all!

Anyway, enough about me and my insanely busy schedule, let's head over to the other girls' blogs and see what they're wearing. I'm sure they are WAY more fab this week than I am. ;)

FATSHION FACEOFF: TRENCH COAT

umbrella (similar but plain): Zara
tshirt (similar): Forever21+
belt (similar): Torrid
flats (similar on sale): Zara

Ok, two things in this post are new to my closet. First, the trench coat, found on clearance on Target.com for $35 (I'll be updating my Stop the Shop balance soon). It's great classic wardrobe staple that will last stay in style for years and it fits me perfectly, which is saying a lot considering my large upper arms and wide hips. Thank goodness for a-line coats! And it totally reminds me of the Kate Spade and Burberry ones, so yay!

Also new are these jeans. Remember how I said that I've been looking for great boyfriend jeans for ages? Well, I found 'em! I've pretty much written off Old Navy for jeans for years and years as their cuts never fit me quite right. Well, these babies are the exception, and I love how they are both slouchy but still fit well. I bought them in the worn-in wash and the light blue, and I've pretty much been wearing them non-stop (as you can probably tell from my Instagram). I got the 18 in the straight size, but the best part is that they're offered in a couple of washes in plus size as well (up to a size 30)! If you get them in plus, please let me know, as I'm curious if ON is doing the plus size market justice in the jeans department.

Anyway, now that you've seen my take on the trench coat challenge (and made it through my jeans ramblings), we should go see what the other Fatshion Faceoff girls are wearing!

DOUBLE VISION: ADELE

Hey y'all! It's Sunday, so of course that means it's time for this week's Double Vision post! Double Vision is a series of awesomely fun posts that I do with my friend Hanna of The Wardrobe Challenge. If you're new to the blog, you can read more about it here

This week we have the amazing Mouna to thank for our challenge inspiration! She's in London with Hanna for plus size fashion week, she and suggested that we do an Adele-inspired DV. Am I super stoked about an Adele challenge? You betcha! I freaking love Adele. She's down-to-earth and funny, and not to mention, amazingly talented. She even has a doxie named Louie Armstrong. What's not to love?? Anyway, I Googled and Pintrested like a mad woman to find outfit inspiration, and not surprisingly, I found a lot of pictures of Adele in entirely black ensembles. I like to wear black, so no problem there, but I didn't want to wear a dress, so I decided to go with this gorgeous photo as my inspiration:

Source: tumblr.com via Dani on Pinterest

sweater (similar): ASOS Curve
dress: H&M
leggings (similar): Forever21+
boots (similar): ModCloth
sock (for bun purposes): try these

Do you like my Adele-singing-all-the-emotions impression? I know it's ridiculous and silly, but I just like posting fun pictures on my blog sometimes. It makes me smile, and hopefully it makes you grin too. Also, just in case you wanted to make a big ol' Adele bun on top of your head too, remember that the longer the sock, the bigger the bun. I used a short sock, so mine's not so big, but there's always next time.. ;)

Anyway, I hope you like my take on a casual Adele outfit. Now let's head over to Hanna's blog and see how she's rocking her look today!

30x30v2 RECAP

These aren't in any particular order, sorry! I used a collage maker and it jumbled them all up. :)

I couldn't get enough of: monochromatic outfits with a pop of color
Now that I see my 30x30v2 outfits all together, I can tell that I was definitely drawn to the tried and true combo of black and white with a pop of color (usually in the form of red, pink, or cobalt). Whether it was a colorful scarf, a bright handbag, a snazzy shoe, or a punchy lipstick, I'm really glad those little pops added some life to what otherwise might have been a very boring 30x30.

I could have lived without: maxi skirt
I really thought I would have worn this more, but I was just really kind of stumped by it. There were days I did feel like rocking it but the wind outside convinced me otherwise. It probably doesn't help that it's also just a bit too loose around my waist, so I feel a bit not-pulled-together in it. Maybe I need to devote the time to taking it in, or maybe it's time to pass it on to a new home? Will have to think about it.

My favorite outfits:  8, 1213, 22

My least favorite outfits:  6, 14, 30

30x30 MVPs: ......drumroll please...... black leggings, jeans, tank tops!
Thank goodness I chose the tank tops, because so many days it was warm enough for them! I'm glad I picked ones that had patterns, as I thought they added the visual interest that saved some of my outfits from being blah. Also, jeans. If I wasn't wearing jeans, I was probably wearing leggings. I really wanted to spruce up my 30x30 outfits with funky tights, but in the end, I just couldn't be bothered. So jeans it was!

Overall, I think the 30x30 was a so-so success, and I'm just glad that I finally finished it. At the halfway point I was starting to feel a bit stifled, and I think not picking a bunch of different colors, patterns, or really unique pieces left me feeling less creative and just kind of ho-hum about the whole thing. And I can definitely see why it's ideal to make all 30 outfits in 30 days. The remix felt like it dragged on and made me less inspired to make fun outfits, which in turn made the time drag on into a 2 and a half month challenge. If I'm honest, probably the most fun part of the remix this time around was seeing Jess and Sarah's outfits. They always put a smile on my face. Until next time, ladies! ;)

dani

FATSHION FACEOFF: PATENT HEELS

Hey y'all! It's Wednesday and so that means it's time for the Fatshion Faceoff! (If you're new to the blog, you can find out more about the FF here.) This week our challenge item was chosen by Mhairi and she picked... patent heels! Now, my mind is overwhelmed with school things at the moment, so I accidentally published next week's post today. I took it off the blog, and am posting the correct one now. Whoops!

Anyway, I don't usually wear patent heels all that often, as I usually reach for sparkly shoes over shiny ones, but nevertheless, they're such a wardrobe staple that I have a few pairs. I picked these peeptoe ones for today's look!

sunnies: RayBan via Zappos
earrings: Forever21
necklace: Forever21
sweater: Forever21
jeans: Forever21+
heels: Guess via DSW

Now that you've seen my (super simple) take on patent heels, make sure to check out how the other Fatshion Faceoff girls are rocking theirs. I'm sure they look totes fab! ;D

The semester is officially in full-swing, and every morning last week found me pulling on slouchy jeans and comfy shirts. I decided to switch things up today by wearing some of the most girly things in my closet. Here's hoping that sparkle and the Three P's (see post title) snapped me out of my rut! How do you shake things up on the weekend?

FATSHION FACEOFF: VALENTINE'S SPECIAL FROM IGIGI WITH GIVEAWAY

Hey y'all! The Fatshion Faceoff is usually on Wednesdays, but this week we're hosting a very special extra Fatshion Faceoff for you!  (If you're new to the blog, you can find out more about the FF here.) The amazing brand IGIGI was kind enough to send each of us girls a dress of our choosing to celebrate Valentine's Day and show you what we would wear for that special day. IGIGI is also sponsoring a special giveaway (that I'll get to in a minute) for you on each of our blogs, too! Five blogs, five giveaways, a fabulous time will be had by all! Thank you so much, Igigi!

I'm sure you all know how much I love versatile pieces in my wardrobe, so being somewhat practical, I decided to pick a dress that could be worn for day or night. I chose the Mara Dress in Majesty Purple because I knew it could be worn lots of different ways, on a Valentine's date night and beyond. And it's just gorgeous, too, right? Anyway, I really wanted to test the versatility of this dress, so I came up with a couple of different styling options to show you! And also don't forget to enter the giveaway after the pictures!

DAY
dress: c/o IGIGI
blazer: Forever21+
jewelry: Forever21
clutch: Forever21
metallic heels: Shoemint

NIGHT
dress: c/o IGIGI
earrings: gift from Hanna
ring: Forever21
clutch: Forever21
black sandals: Zara

I'm really glad I chose this dress, and I think it suits me perfectly. The dress is a beautiful purple and a color I don't have much of in my closet (the lighting in these pics is wonky, but the color of the dress is shown accurately). The fabric has a good weight to it as well as stretch, the draping is well done and it's a very comfortable and easy dress to wear. I was nervous about the dual sizing offered, so after studying the sizing chart, I requested a US 12 as I thought the US 14/16 would have been too large in the bust. However, the 12 is a bit bodycon-ish around my pear-shaped lower half, and I think a size up would have draped a bit nicer. Overall though, I'm super stoked about this dress and getting the chance to collaborate with IGIGI

And now for the giveaway! IGIGI is offering each of us Fatshion Faceoff girls a $50 voucher to give away on our blogs, and each winner will receive a code to spend on the Igigi website. That means after you enter here on my blog, you can also enter on  Hanna's, Mhairi'sOlivia's, and Mouna's blogs as well for extra chances to win. ;)

All you have to do is go check out IGIGI.com and find a dress that you would love to wear on Valentine's Day (I like this one and this one!). Then come back here and leave me a comment via the Rafflecopter below telling me which dress you would pick, as well as your email address so I can contact you if you win. And that's it! The giveaway ends on Feb. 15th, and you can also do extra entries below, too. Good luck!

And make sure to check out how the other Fatshion Faceoff girls are rocking their dresses. We each chose a different one, so I'm excited to see how fab they look! (And remember to enter the giveaways on their sites as well for extra entries!)

FATSHION FACEOFF / 28x30: BIKER JACKET

Hey y'all! Today is Wednesday and that means it's time for the Fatshion Faceoff! (If you're new to the blog, you can find out more about the FF here.) This week's challenge item was chosen by Mouna and she picked... a biker jacket! Which is awesome because biker jackets are absolutely my favorite type of outerwear. They can be paired with just about anything, and I love that they come in all styles and colors. Here's how I wore mine!

necklace: Forever21
scarf: Target
skirt (similar): Old Navy
booties: Steve Madden via DSW

Now that you've seen my take on the biker jacket, let's head over to the other girls' blogs and see how they are rocking their jackets! I bet they look amazing (as always!). :)
