DOUBLE VISION: VARSITY

Hey y'all! It's Sunday, so of course that means it's time for this week's Double Vision post! Double Vision is a series of awesomely fun posts that I do with my friend Hanna of The Wardrobe Challenge. If you're new to the blog, you can read more about it here. We've been taking a little break from DV for the past couple of weeks because we've been insanely busy, but today we're back. Hanna suggested we do a varsity inspired outfit, so we may or may not both be fat cheerleaders. Haha! Here's my take..

jersey: borrowed from the bf
skirt: gift from Hanna
kicks: Converse via DSW

Y'all, I still think the Eagles should've hired me to be their new coach. I may not know a whole lot about football, but I can sure dress the part, right? YES.

Anyway, that's about as much sports chatter I can handle for one day, so let's head over to Hanna's blog and see what varsity inspired outfit she's wearing today! ;)

PS: If you read this post and try to talk to me about football, TO (I'm assuming that's whose jersey number this is but I could totes be wrong), or anything else sporty, please don't be offended if I run away.

FRIDAY FAVES: YOUTUBE PICKS

Just a quick Friday Faves tonight, you guys! I've been so so busy with schoolwork, deadlines are fast approaching and I still have so much to do. But no matter how busy I get, once my kid and boyfriend are asleep for the night, I try to make time for myself and spend a few minutes doing absolutely nothing important. Lately, that's meant hanging out with my pal Youtube. I really only watch a few kinds of videos on Youtube, suck-you-in series (seri?), makeup tutorials, and cheesy style stuff. Here are my go-to's, in no particular order. :)

The Lizzie Bennet Diaries

One of my artsy friends up at school happened to mention The LBD before the start of winter break, and I just happened to spend a good portion of said break catching up on the series. LBD is a modern day adaptation of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (my all-time favorite book, btw) and it's awesome. They just wrapped up the whole series (sadface), so you can click above and watch all the antics unfold with Lizzie and her sisters.

My Mad Fat Diary

Someone on Tumblr reposted an episode of this 6-episode series, so I clicked through to see what it was about. Let me tell ya, I love this series. I can relate to Rae, the main character, and her struggles. I was the shy, fat friend with issues back in high school during the mid-90's, same as Rae, and really struggled with opening up to people. I think this series is smart, funny, sad, eye-opening, basically just everything that makes up a great show.

Pixiwoo

Omg, what do I NOT love about Nic and Sam of Pixiwoo? Not only are they amazing makeup artists who seriously know everything about makeup products and brands and how to apply them and which products are best for you skin tone/type/etc, they also seem really genuine and sweet. They're sisters from Norwich, England, both moms, and both gorgeous. I've learned so much from them, and I'm always super stoked when I see a new tutorial pop up. Now, I haven't seen all of their videos (there's a LOT), but Pixiwoo is always my first stop for makeup help. And now you know about them, too. You're welcome. ;)

Wayne Goss

What can a guy tell me about beauty, you say? Everything. About makeup, skincare, and so much more, Wayne will show you how to choose the best smokey eye for your eye shape, how to hide pores and get rid of pesky skin problems, and tell you which foundations are worth the price and which aren't. I find him totally and completely honest, and quite charming actually (the accent probably helps, let's be honest). I don't know if he's considered a guru or not, but his channel is definitely worth checking out, especially if you want beauty advice beyond just makeup tutorials. I'm currently using a Clinique product in my nightly beauty routine that he recommended in one of his videos and I couldn't be happier with how much nicer my skin is looking.

PopSugar

Guilty pleasure, check. Fashioney things that are often helpful, sometimes cheesy? Check. From runway reports to outfit ideas, celebrity fashion to quick tips to keep you looking your best (I'm talking to you, Bye Bye Static Cling video!), PopSugar has quick videos that always make me smile. Sometimes I learn something useful, like how to fix a broken heel, or get inspired by the DIY's, but I pretty much always get a giggle from the slightly cheesy commentary. And a bit of ragey jealousy at host Allison's always gorgeous hair. Why can't I have the nice hair, too?

Hope you guys enjoy my Youtube picks, I know I certainly do! ;) What are your favorite Youtube videos/channels/people?

PS: You could totally hop over here to my blog shop, too! There's still some fab pairs of shoes left and whatever isn't sold by the end of the weekend is going up on ebay. I'm also planning on updating the shop this weekend with some clothes and other accessories, and leaving them there for a week or so to give y'all first dibs before ebay as well. :) Thanks so much! <3

FATSHION FACEOFF: HATS

Hey y'all! It's Wednesday and that means it's time for the Fatshion Faceoff! If you're new to the blog, you can find out more about the FF here. This week's challenge was chosen by Mhairi and she picked... hats! I had some running around to do last week, and I don't wear hats nearly enough, so I threw one on. Wanna see?

< 3 haha!

sunnies: RayBan via Zappos
jacket (similar): thrifted here
sweatshirt (similar): Old Navy
jeans (also in plus): Old Navy
bag (similar): Zara
booties (similar, similar in sz11): DSW

El Boyfriendo helped me take pictures of my hat-accessorized outfit, and I think he did a good job considering he'd never taken pictures with a fancy camera before. We thought we'd taken all the shots we needed, only to realize that none had actually been shot. See, my camera makes a sound when it focuses, then a click when the picture is taken, and he thought the focus sound was the picture-taking sound too. So these are actually the second round of pictures we took that day. But it's ok, because he's still learning and I still <3 him. ;)

Now let's go see how the other FF girls are rocking their hats! I think Hanna and Mhairi might be taking a break this week, but you can show them some love anyway, right? I bet they could use some cheerful Tweets or something to brighten their days. In fact, everyone could. I'm gonna go leave some happy Tweets right now myself.. :)

LET'S MAKE A DEAL

If you follow my Instagram, you might have seen a couple of snaps of some shoes I'm letting go of. I've tried the ebay route for a few of them, but ebay apparently has limits as to how many items a new seller can sell. So I'm reopening my blog shop for the rest of the fab pairs that I wasn't able to list for auction! I'll also be listing clothing over the next week or so in the shop as well, so make sure to check back. ;)

You can pop over to the shop HERE and leave me a comment on anything you're interested in.
Accepting all reasonable offers, y'all!

And you can see the pairs listed on ebay HERE. :)

FRIDAY FAVES: THE DIME STORE

Welcome to a new feature here on the blog, Friday Favorites! I always love reading the "What I'm Loving" Friday posts on my favorite blogs, so I thought I'd do my own take on them. I'm not sure if I'll be posting every week, but I thought it'd be fun way to highlight some of the things, places, people, blogs, etc that I'm currently digging. :) Let's get started!

The Dime Store is a new artist collective here in town that will be opening a storefront/workshop space/gallery on April 5th (more event info here). I recently attended a pop-up shop event celebrating the new store and came across some lovely Etsy artists that I wanted to share with you guys.

LONG SENTENCES

cardigan: Target
dress (similar, similar in plus): Old Navy
belt (similar): off a Target skirt
bag (navy with scallops!): vintage Coach via ebay
ring: Forever21
loafers (similar): Old Navy

Allergies have me feeling down, y'all. I've been a sneezing, sniffly mess for the better part of the day and the gray skies and clouds outside aren't helping to cheer me up. The dumb Texas winds kick up all sorts of gunk and hurl it through the air at my face and it totally blows (ha!). I never used to have allergies when I lived in California. I think the fresh breezes coming in from the ocean kept the air nice and clean and I got totally spoiled by being able to breathe. I wasn't even allergic to cats back then but Texas ruined that as well.

Anyway, I didn't start this post meaning for it to become an anti-Texas rant. Instead, I was going to tell you that I went to an art exhibition reception tonight for one my Yuma buddies (it was awesome!) and that yes, I wore a dress to it. I'm also wearing the same cardigan as I did last week and the same shoes as yesterday and the same glasses as forever, but you're smart so you probably already realized those things.

If you're willing, maybe you can share some of your smarts with me through the internetz so I'll head to bed now with box of tissues and Pickles instead of half-watching the NCAA basketball tournament thing with El Boyfriendo? Speaking of which, I really want to win our family bracket again this year, you guys. More on that later though, I don't want to jinx it. :)

FATSHION FACEOFF: COLORED TIGHTS

Hey y'all! It's Wednesday and that means it's time for the Fatshion Faceoff! If you're new to the blog, you can find out more about the FF here. This week's challenge was chosen by Mouna and she picked colored tights. It's starting to warm up here in Texas, so I probably won't be able to get away with tights for much longer. Pretty soon the temps will be crazy and the humidity will be gross, but until then, enjoy the bright tights below. :)

sunnies: RayBan via Zappos
necklace (similar): Forever21
bag: Forever21
loafers (similar): Old Navy

Now that you've seen my last hurrah with tights for the season (or so I'm assuming!), let's go see how the other girls are wearing them!

PUMPED UP KICKS

tee (I want this one!): Forever21+
shorts: Forever21+
bracelet (similar in gold): Forever21+
kicks (similar in pink): Zara sale

How rockin' are these sneakers, y'all?! I totally scored some major awesomeness during the Zara sale last year when I spotted them. Studs with the added comfiness of flat canvas kicks? YES. PLEASE.

On a totally random tangent, if I had short hair and my boyfriend wore bowties, this shirt would totally depict us to a tea. Haha, I made a jokey joke. :D Hope you're having a great weekend, peace out!

BLORANGE

cardigan: Target
shirt: Old Navy
bag: gift from Hanna
jeans (also in plus): Old Navy
flats (similar): Ross

Ohmygosh you guys, Spring Break is almost over. *sadface* It's been good, though, just not a whole lot of catching up on much-needed rest. My dad has been in town so we've been trying to spend as much time as possible with him and running around doing stuff.

Earlier tonight we went out to dinner and the above outfit is what I wore. It was comfy for nomming on cheese ravioli but I thought it was still cute. I haven't been in the mood for skirts and dresses lately, so you're getting lots of boyfriend jeans. Sorry about that! I've just been too tired to get any kinds of creative. Anyway, jeans aside,  complementary colors are always a good go-to for quick outfits, right? Right. :) What are your go-to outfits and/or colors?

FATSHION FACEOFF: OVER-THE-KNEE BOOTS

Hey y'all! It's Wednesday and so that means it's time for the Fatshion Faceoff! (If you're new to the blog, you can find out more about the FF here.) This week's challenge was chosen by Olivia and she picked knee-high (or over-the-knee) boots. Here's my take on our challenge!

shirt (similar): Target
necklaces: Forever21
bag (similar): Zara
jeggings: Old Navy
boots (similar for less): Duo

For whatever reason, today I wore things I haven't got much use out of. I can't remember wearing this shirt before as it's super slouchy and I usually go for things that aren't so super loose on top. I kind of like how it looks though, with one shoulder askew and whatnot, and the color is gorgeous. I'm still debating whether I should keep it. It was a clearance buy from ages ago, but if I'm not going to wear it often, I'm not sure it needs to stay in my closet. We shall see!

As for the boots, even though I thought they were amazing, I posted them on my Instagram a while ago trying to sell them because I could never figure out what to wear them with. So when Olivia suggested our challenge for today's post, I thought I'd give it one last go and try styling them. I slipped them on for today's outfit and I remembered how fab they are, but again, not sure if they'll be sticking around or if they'll find a new home. Would you wear over-the-knee boots? If so, what would you pair them with?

Anyway, now that you've seen my slouchy, booted outfit, let's go see what the other girls are wearing!

DOUBLE VISION: JEANS AND TEE

Hey y'all! It's Sunday, so of course that means it's time for this week's Double Vision post! Double Vision is a series of awesomely fun posts that I do with my friend Hanna of The Wardrobe Challenge. If you're new to the blog, you can read more about it here

This week we're keeping things easy and doing a jeans and tee challenge. I received this TOTES AMAZE tee yesterday in the mail from Hanna, so I knew I had to feature it in my take on the challenge. :D

tee: gift from Hanna
bag: Forever21
kicks: Converse via Ross

I kept my outfit simple, as I'm cleaning house today and running errands in preparation for my dad coming for a visit. He's driving from California to spend Spring Break with us, and I could NOT be any more excited! It's been at least a couple years since we've seen him, so I'm really looking forward to our time together.

Anyway, I'm off to the grocery store, but you should check out Hanna's blog to see her take on jeans and a tee. I'm sure she looks totes amaze! ;D

FATSHION FACEOFF: 1ST BIRTHDAY

Hey y'all! It's Wednesday and so that means it's time for the Fatshion Faceoff! (If you're new to the blog, you can find out more about the FF here.) This week's challenge is especially special (meaning: super duper special, obvs) because its the first birthday of the Fatshion Faceoff!! Woot! It honestly doesn't feel like we've been doing this for a year, it's gone by so fast and I feel so honored though that I've gotten to do these weekly challenges with Hanna, Mhairi, Mouna, and Olivia. They're fabulous ladies and I can't wait to see what this coming year has in store for us. :) Anyway, on to this week's challenge theme (yes, we're gonna be throwing in some themes every now and then, too)! We decided to style up outfits that we'd wear if we were going out tonight to celebrate the FF's 1-year birthday!

earrings, bracelet: Forever21
top: gift from Hanna
skirt: GAP
clutch: MbyMJ via eBay
heels: Zara

Party night out with the girls can only mean three things: sparkle, leopard, and fab shoes, amirite? Doesn't hurt to add some bright pink either. :)

Let's see how the other girls are rocking their celebration outfits!
