Hi there! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means.. Fatshion Faceoff time! (If you're new to the blog, you can click here to read what the FF is all about.) Today it was my turn to pick our challenge item, and I chose, yep you guessed it, shoes! Mary Jane heels to be exact. Here's how I wore mine!

heels (similar): Zara

I know this post is supposed to be all about the shoes, but y'all, I have to talk about this dress. Earlier this summer, I was contacted by the PR team for some of the brands at QVC, asking if I'd like to review and feature an item on my blog. After heading over to QVC to see what they had to offer, I immediately fell in love with the print of this dress. It's unlike any other print in my closet, yet it still kind of reminded me of my beloved leopard prints, you know?

Anyway, I chose the gray, but it also comes in blue and purple versions. As for sizing, I checked the size chart and ordered the 1X because of my hips, and I find it true to size. The fabric is super soft, stretchy, and has a nice weight to it, and I already know I'll be pairing it with leggings and tall boots when the weather cools down. In the video on the website, it's described as a "drop waist" style, but I just cinched up the drawstring to fit where I'm narrowest, my waist. I think it looks better that way, and bonus, it's still long enough to be an appropriate length dress. Yay! You guys, this thing even has pockets. POCKETS. I know, right? Super cool! The only thing I wish was different was that it had a lower cut neckline. I like to show off the girls a bit, lol! Other than that, this dress ticks all the boxes and I know I'll wear it tons. Thank you so much LOGO and QVC!

Now that you've seen my amaze new dress and my adorbs mary-janes, you should totally head over to the other Fatshion Faceoff babes' blogs and see how fabulous they are this week! :)

Hiya there! Its Wednesday and Fatshion Faceoff time. Hanna chose our challenge this week, and she picked... multiple bracelets! I've been feeling really out of sorts lately, and I didn't have it in me to rock the challenge this week. BUT I know I've rocked many an arm party before, so I've compiled a best of bracelets post for you.

When I was searching through my photos for good bracelet stacks, I quickly realized how relatively new they are to my personal style. A couple of years ago, before I started this blog, I rarely wore jewelry beyond just a pair of simple earring studs. And when DIY FATSHION started, I'd sometimes wear a bangle or a ring with my studs. In fact, it probably wasn't until six months ago or so that I really felt comfortable wearing more accessories at once, and it's only this summer that I really started piling things on, especially bracelets. (Although from the looks of Pinterest, I have a long way to go! Hey, we should totally follow each other there, btw. ;)

Anyway, when searching out arm party inspiration, I really love the look of different styles of gold colored ones. I think they look classy and fun and bohemian and modern all at the same time, ya know? Here are some of my favorite arm parties to aspire to from around the internets:

Do you stack up your bracelets? If so, I wanna see! Pin your arm party or Instagram it, and tag me @diyfatshion so I don't miss it! :) Now, make sure you check out the other Fatshion Faceoff babes' arm stacks!

Hey there! It's Wednesday and time for the Fatshion Faceoff! This week our challenge item was chosen by Mhairi and she picked... a green dress or top! I wanted to wear a dress, as its super hot here in Texas, but wound up going with an olive tank top and jeans instead. My legs got totally mosquito-bitten over the holiday weekend and aren't feeling so fly at the moment. :)

Saturday was our last full day in the city and I still hadn't checked out Central Park. Oh, I'd been through it a bunch of times on the M86 bus, but had yet to step foot in the grass. Crazy, right? Well, I took the opportunity to indulge my wanderlust in the park when Hanna and Mouna wanted to go shopping one last time. Who knew the park was so freaking huge? I tracked my path later that day, and I walked well over 3 miles without even realizing it. Well, my feet realized it, but my eyes didn't, lol. :) Here are some snaps from my adventure!

Later that night, Hanna and I got all dressed up for our last night in the city. I didn't get any pics of my outfit, but I'll just tell you, I was smokin'. LOL Anyway, we headed downtown to an English pub for ciders and fancy burgers before checking out the FFFW After Party around the corner. Although I have to admit, after about 15 minutes in the overcrowded and super loud party space, Hanna and I ditched  it like the grannies we are for more ciders at our pub. Mouna and her hubby, and Olivia and her boy joined us for one last evening of laughs, and that was our evening. We got back to our apartment by 1am and fell into bed. Grannies for the win. ;)

The next morning we were up early, had some breakfast at the diner across the street, and were headed to the airport just after noon. We got to JFK way ahead of schedule, so I did some last minute souvenir shopping (El Boyfriendo would be proud!) and we had a quick lunch. Aside from our sad baby pizzas at JFK, tt was fun, NYC, and I can't wait to come back!

So, the biggest official event of FFFW, for me at least, was the Indie Designer Showcase. I've never been to a runway show before, but I've seen about 1,743 episodes of Project Runway, so I felt well prepared. After slipping into a gorgeous dress and putting my best Nina game-face on, I was ready.

I took a bazillion pictures, but decided just to show you the pieces that were my favorites from the collections. I feel like the pictures don't do the clothes justice, but hopefully you can at least get a sense of what's to come from these independent designers. If you see something you like, click the designer name above their pics. I've linked to their websites so you can see more. Anyway, below are the shots from the show, and my outfit follows. :) Enjoy!

After the show, Hanna and I went out for dinner and drinks with Lucy from Scarlett & Jo and one of the brand's designers, Angela. They were both incredibly nice and it was an amazing experience to get so much one-on-one time with both of them chatting about New York, plus size fashion, and the direction Scarlett & Jo is headed next. They've accomplished so much as a brand in less than a year, it's really quite remarkable. A perfect example is this gorgeous dress they sent me. I mean, the bold print and sheer detailing is fab, right? I've already seen some of the pieces they have planned for Fall '13, but  I can't wait to see what exciting things Scarlett & Jo do in the future for plus size fashion. Thank you Lucy and Angela! :)
